The project become necessary as a result of network performance issues on the Abattoir networks. The networks were experiencing overloading during peak periods due to illegal connections, tampering of meters, vandalism and a general culture of nonpayment in the area.

This project was required to normalise all transformer zones using split metering technology to minimise tempering and connecting new 1786 customers in KwaXimba area. Eyethu was appointed as a consultant for Basic Engineering services for network strengthening. And also provide Project
Management Services during construction phase.
